De functie / The role
The candidate, who will report to Manager Bioinformatics, will be responsible for the management and analysis of standardized (meta)genome and transcriptome sequencing projects. In addition, the candidate will perform the analysis of custom microbial genomics projects where focus will be given on developing these into new commercial services. This latter task will be defined in close collaboration with the Product development team. He/she will work as a part of a highly motivated team of scientists and technicians.
Het profiel / Your profile
We are looking for a highly driven and results-orientated candidate with preferably 2 years of bioinformatics work experience in Bioinformatics who lives in the Leiden area and wants to work full-time (40 h/week).
Excellent knowledge of Python and in-depth knowledge of NGS technologies are essential.
Additional experience of microbial genomics, Perl, R, Docker containers, NextFlow, the scrum/agile framework, as well as an understanding of laboratory management and quality systems are of benefit.
The candidate should have a commercial attitude supported with perfect communication and presentation skills.
The successful candidate must be able to work well both independently and within a team and be able to meet strict deadlines.
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics with demonstrable bioinformatics, programming and DNA sequence analysis experience.
