The main mission of our UX community, with more than 90 collaborators across the world, is to embody consumer voice to inspire and co-design awesome food experience that people will adopt. We work in a multi-disciplinary business environment, in order to understand consumer’s behaviors and expectations to design Products and Packaging. We partner with leading edge scientists and agencies to build competitive advantage for Danone.
As Sensory Panel Leader you are responsible for studies from start to finish; you will not only design the study based on business needs but also conduct the study and give recommendations on how to improve the product performance and be superior in the market. As we take into account the entire user experience, sensory studies do not only focus on the product itself but also on the preparation and packaging. As you are working in UX for Specialized Nutrition you will be working with products that give specialized nutritional solutions for a range of vulnerable groups, such as pregnant women, infants, children, and patients suffering from certain chronic diseases
Your main responsibilities will be:
Designing the set-up of sensory studies focussing on the entire user experience for as well trained panels and/or consumers. Select or if necessary, develop the most appropriate method and test design.
To be up to date on (new) product developments of the Specialized Nutrition market & provide the UX team with insight on the latest sensory landscapes to fuel the business.
Supervising the sensory panel by maintaining, instructing and training the panels on specific SN product groups. Guarantee & monitor the panellists performance, while keeping them engaged & motivated.
Manage day to day activities of the SN sensory panels In Utrecht by preparing and running the panel sessions with support of the panel assistant, in line with internal policies and procedures.
Determining the best method for analysing the sensory data, using the appropriate software and give interpretation to the results.
Using your storytelling skills to build impactful reports & communicate on results to different audiences.
Use study results and your knowledge of sensory perception to give guidance to improve product performance & superiority. Link these insights to advise on the product design to bring the intended sensory signature.
Introducing new sensory developments to the team through literature, attending & participating in conferences (including presenting).
Het profiel / Your profile
You have a Master’s degree or similar (e.g., WO) in Sensory Science with strong statistical skills and have at least 3 years’ experience in sensory analysis, ideally acquired when working in a sensory team in industry or academic group
You manipulate sensory methodologies and have strong skills in statistical analysis using the appropriate sensory software (EyeQuestion, XLstat, Senpaq would be an advantage).
You are comfortable with managing sensory projects independently and have strong people skills to build good working relationships with UX colleagues, project teams and sensory panellists.
You are fluent in Dutch to be able to lead the panels (must have) and have good communication skills in written and spoken English.
You are a pro-active, hands-on person, able to work under time pressure and in a lab environment, thinking in solutions and act accordingly.
You are available to work full time (40 hours/5 days per week)
