The Project Management Organization (PMO) function accelerates the delivery of innovative medicines to patients by driving portfolio strategy and program excellence through insight-based decision-making. The Project Management Leader (PML) represents the primary PMO interface to the Janssen R&D Compound Development Teams (CDTs).
The PML has the following three key areas of responsibility to deliver program outcomes:
Creatively drive CDT decision making
Operationalizes the CDT Strategy
Optimizes the CDT Operating Environment
PMLs are guided in all matters by our J&J Credo values and our Leadership Performance Standards.
The successful candidate will co-lead the CDT to meet or exceed the team goals by providing global cross-functional operational leadership in a matrix organization. This includes optimizing plans objectively through constructive challenge and continuous dialogue with different functions to ensure all activities are aligned with JRD & team objectives. Other key responsibilities include:
They will drive insight generation, interpretation, and implementation to facilitate decision making and strategy refinement.
They will hold the cross-functional team accountable to develop and deliver the governance-approved compound development plan within budget, timelines, and scope.
They will navigate the team through complexities drug development and JRD to obtain strategy approval and secure necessary resources.
Deploy core PML methodologies, tools, and frameworks to operationalize the strategy
Ensure the right team capabilities, working styles, resiliency, and ability to deliver under pressure with support
May serve as PML on complex unconventional drug development projects requiring the development of new processes, creatively bridging across co-development partnerships, navigating complex financial requirements, etc. to deliver team goals and objectives.
The successful candidate will challenge the status quo and simplify work; continually question and remove burdensome processes and foster team confidence and safeguard team performance through coaching and periodic reviews of team health.
They will also be responsible for visualization of the Compound Development Plan, ensuring that the assessment leveraged appropriate benchmarks and metrics to inform timing and costs of the development plan. Documentation of all assumptions, risk tables, resourcing summary (e.g., BART book) and sign-off on inputs from team members and across JRD and determining if these are ready for Business Development/Therapeutic Area leadership review.
Het profiel / Your profile
BS degree in life sciences, engineering, or business management is required. A PhD/PharmD or other advanced degrees in a related scientific degree/qualification is preferred.
Five (5) years of successful performance on a standard priority project as a PML (or equivalent experience in a similar drug development role in other departments or companies) is required.
The successful management of two or more governance stage gate decisions is required.
A proven track record of Leadership demonstrating improvement in the quality or efficiency of Company processes, and/or that lead to new capabilities within an organization.
A Demonstrated ability leading in cross functional teams is required.
Cross-functional experience is required.
Five (5) plus years of experience in Project management is strongly preferred.
